Marx decided at some point to take some of their tin lithographed cars and give each car on the factory sheet a different number. The unnumbered car, it is thought by some collectors, was the result of one of the numbers being damaged, so they removed the number entirely to keep things going! The actual circumstances may be lost to history, but they do make for some interesting "chase series" of cars out there for collectors! Here is the chance for someone to get THE FULL SET at one time, no searching involved.
The cars are mostly in really nice shape, with the unnumbered car being the worst of the lot condition-wise. Some cars have the sliding tab and slot couplers (likely from windup sets), but most have plastic knuckle couplers and metal wheels. Some of the plastic couplers are damaged or broken, but I have NOT changed any (you can if you want; the Robert Grossman Company carries replacements - google them if you need Marx parts). Did not want to start bending tabs to get inside the cars, as they are currently all original and untouched in that respect.
Photos are one of the whole lot, then shots of smaller groupings from the left side, roof, and then right side. First cluster is numbers 37960 through 37965, second cluster is 37966 through 37971, and the last cluster is 37972 through 37975 plus the unnumbered car. Placed a penny in the shots for size reference.
